Hong Kong and Singapore are good for shopping while Macau is more on sight seeing or the casinos maybe. Depending on what you are looking for in your trip. These links may help you.

I’ve spent some time in both Hong Kong and Singapore, but never Macau. Both HK and Singapore are good for people who only speak English, but they’re a little expensive and western. Where you want to go really depends on what you’re looking for in a trip. If you want something “super asian” I might opt more for Bangkok instead of HK or Singapore.

This is depending on your taste rather. For budget wise, Hong Kong is the most expensive and Macau 2nd then Singapore. But this depending on where you spend your money as Hong Kong can be cheaper for many things than Singapore. Macau wise is relatively small and its not worth just only getting to if you are from faraway places like Europe and North America. Hong Kong is largely Chinese speaking Cantonese and English alike and Singapore is multilingual nation and English is the no. 1 language in Singapore!!! Hong Kong is largely for shopping and dining as a paradise for dine and shop, while Singapore is largely a culture melting pot, or some sort of New York in Asia. Singapore is more friendly than Hong Kong, but less courteous than Hong Kong. Macau is more like a sidetrip to Hong Kong rather as a destination as a whole. Singapore’s getaway is Malaysia and Indonesia , which is predominatory Muslim while Hong Kong getaway is China and Taiwan, where is still the territory of Chinese. If you really want to see Asia as its best, come to Singapore, then go to Malaysia, truly Asia and Indonesia if you care to apply for visa on arriving the port for US$ 10 for 72 hr of visit for westerners and other alike. Or else, Hong Kong will be great for a romatic or an energetic trip for you, as it will leave you tired, then escape to Macau for a lucky trip on casino and its cultural part. Wherever you choose to visit, welcome to Asia and have a great trip then. See You.

Hong Kong has a lot more variety and way more cool than Singapore.
The language barrier is nonexistent, the cuisine is as authentic as it can get, it is very convenient as a place to fly to, the culture is Western, and the scenery is just breath-taking. Not to mention that Hong Kong is way more cooler and less humid than Singapore – where it gets sweaty always. HK also has lots of cool bars and nightlife, as well as shopping and dining than Singapore. Then when you get bored of Hong Kong, you can go to Macau through a hydrofoil which only takes thirty minutes. Honestly, Hong Kong is a little bit more expensive than Singapore but definitely, you’ll get more than what you pay in HK.
Then from Hong Kong, you can grab a brief plane flight to Manila (Philippines) or Bangkok (Thailand) for more shopping treats then to Boracay (Philippines) or Phuket (Thailand). Manila and Bangkok have Asia’s largest and trendiest shopping centers and nicest beach resorts.
This would make a better Asian holiday than through a Singapore-Malaysia route.
