Question by Lori T: How much does it cost to travel from the US to Namibia, Africa?
I have never been out of the US, but I have always wanted to travel to the Namib desert in Africa. I was wondering how much it would cost.
I would be flying out of Dallas, Texas.

To start with, see what is the prices on Namibian Airways. I am not sure which cities in the world they service, but it cannot hurt to enquire. Then maybe you can have a look at South African Airways, although I seldom hear any good reviews on SAA service.
I believe that you will have to fly with more than one airliner.
Best is to visit any travel agent to do an inquiry. They will give you the best and/or cheapest option, and they do not charge for the inquiry.

I have checked on the expedia web and found the following prices for travel in August. International travel prices does fluctuate according to season and availability and my suggestion is to go to a travel site and then visit a travel agent for a quote as well.
South African Airways from USD 2808
American Airlines from USD 2808
Air Namibia from USD 2913
British Airways from USD 3530
Lufthansa from USD 4022.
You can also visit http://africa.americanairfare.com/Specials/Johannesburg,%20South%20Africa-A.htm with prices from USD 835 and then look at http://www.flysaa.com for a cheap ticket between JNB and Windhoek.

I agree with Blue bull, check flights to Cape Town (CPT) or Johannesburg (JNB) and then ongoing flight to Windhoek (WDH) with South African, Namibian or British Airways.
A cheaper but with more hassle would be booking your second leg from JNB with no-frills carrier kulula.com, but be careful with weight restrictions.
No matter how you get there, you will love it.

Important to note is several international airlines fly to Namibia. Therefore you can fly with more than one airliner.v Most of the flights are competitive. It is more recommendable to consult a travel agent for the best deal. Travel agents in choosing the best and cheapest option.
