Hello everyone! I tried to search the site for the answer of my question but I couldn’t find one. Can you help me in determining what is the recommended duration of using an Acer Aspire 2920z or any other laptops? Coz I’ve been using my new laptop for like 12-18 hours everyday. I don’t want to wreck it or something. Please help me.
And also, I’m using the main power supply while using my laptop, should I take off my batteries?

Shutdown ur laptop when you take ur snacks, lunch and anytime when it is not in use.

It is recommended that you turn off your laptop for a few minutes after every 4-5 hours. You should also occassionally turn off the power supply and exercise your batteries. This ensures that your laptop gets time to cool down and yet satisfies your needs. You should turn it off for at least 5 – 15 minutes though

well…. i use my laptop like 8 hours a day or somthing but when im gone for like few minutes i shut it down or put it to sleep so it can cool down for a while and keep it close to air where alot of air is circualting so it can keep it cool

Oh, come on! Use it any way you want. I have an 8 year old laptop and I NEVER shut it down. Lately I don’t even take it out of the house and it’s ALWAYS on. Works fine.
No need to take the battery out. Old batteries needed to be “exercised” not new lithium ones.
Restart it once in a while to clear the memory and that’s it.

As long as it is on a hard surface that does not block its cooling it should be fine (some have swing out feet to raise it off the desk). Most have a multi-speed fan, so if the fan is not constantly running full speed, it should be cool enough.
Remove your battery after it has fully charged (unless you expect power failure during a storm). But instructions for mine say to run it on battery at least once per month (execises the battery and keeps battery meter calibrated). My newer laptop is connected to a UPS, so I do not have to worry about storms when its battery is removed.
I also have an older dual boot (Win98SE/Linux) laptop purchased Jan 2000 that I used for several years 24/7 as a wireless terminal for a PC in my basement. It still runs fine, but is somewhat obsolete (its battery no longer charges).

Notebook/laptop PCs can last a long time and if you selected the right amount of memory and appropriate size harddrive installed from original purchase then 1st major replacement would probably be battery that most likely will be fairly expensive on an ACER Notebook PC due to low number of ACER Notebook PCs in general, I know bec it happened on my 1st Notebook PC which was Gateway,
It’s too late now but truthfully you can’t go wrong and I recommend Dell! There are hidden long-run costs that one does not initially see when you purchase a Notebook PC other than Dell, HP or IBM and later encounter difficulties or attempt buying replacement parts like a battery, or say a keyboard etc.
We own 3 Dell Notebook PCs and why I recommend DELL, HP or IBM for those living in the United States is that those 3 particular PC Notebook manufacturers literally supply all the business Notebook PCs to the major corporations and Government so replacement parts are readily available esp on EBAY at even a more reasonable price than the manufacturer website. Thus in the long run, being able to get the exact replacement part extends the life on your investment.
FYI my 1st Notebook PC was Gateway bec I couldn’t afford Dell at the time and what a mistake is was when I needed to purchase a new Notebook battery <= costly bec not readily available like Dells… and FYI I also ran into a similar problem when attempting to upgrade the memory.
