Question by Jeremy Yongpeng Sun: Suppose the Hummer line in the US is to be kept intact with a new global headquarters built in the US, would?

Hummer cars still be “American cars” after the line’s sale as a subsidiary to the Chinese-based company?
The profits go to the GDP of the country that makes them, they don’t “go to China”, however that can be done.

In my opinion, it’s all about where the dollars go. Yes, Hummer may still very well be produced in America, but if the profits and earnings are going straight over to china, it’s not an American car.
That’s why Japanese cars, which are all made in American production facilities; and in some cases conceived, designed, prototyped, and finally produced in America, are still imports, not domestics.

All I can say is that I am less likely to buy a Hummer now & will refuse to later on. Once the Chinese start importing cheap parts & putting them into the Hummers’, they will become less & less reliable. Right now there’s lots of regulatory hurdles to over come. GM should be ashamed of themselves for even talking with them. Welcome to the United Socialist States of China.

Hummers were garbage when GM owned them. You really can’t make them worse. The new Hummer will be much better because it is not American.

I still wish they would go the way of the other dinosaurs
