Q&A: Who would support a public boycott of Fox and laws that legislate entertainment as news?
Question by Average College Student: Who would support a public boycott of Fox and laws that legislate entertainment as news?
We need legislation for news corporations to declare if they are for entertainment or news. Legitimate news should be fined for being inaccurate or lying. NPR would serve as the model for such a law.
Fox is number one because they cheat. They mix news with facts and the government needs to step in because its goal is integrity.

Mix news with facts.
Hmmm, I don’t find that disturbing in the least, I prefer facts with my news.

Making lying a crime when not under oath is too problematic, it’s impossible to enforce. If I were to make a statement that is not true, it’s not necessarily a lie either unless you can prove that I knew the truth and intentionally made the statement. For that reason, you would never be able to prove statements were lies in most cases.

Fox is the only network that actually reports the news.

Fox news is as credible as Robert Kiyosaki and his MLM sheeple.

FOX ain’t worth the trouble.
Everyone who is capable of figuring out that it is pure crap, already has.
We just have to get used to the fact that we have 5 million chronically stupid people in the US.

I purchased a device on line that blocks clusterfaux tv, for $19.95 several years ago, and it is still working just fine.

Are you trying to make fun of people? Or do you really believe this?

Did you eat lead paint as a child? Just askin’
You really can’t be this stupid or misguided, can you?
If you’re average, does that mean half the college students are dumber than you? <:^o…My God, our schools have truly failed us
What about so called “news” networks that suppress news, and twist news stories with their own opinions, to favor the Democrat administration? Not mentioning any names, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBC, NBC…NPR for sure!. THat’s a left wing organizatin if ever there was one
You do realize that all cable news networks have “News” shows and editorial or “Opinion” shows, don’t you?
And there is this little thing called the U.S. Constitution, which has some emendments to it, expressing some of our rights. Take a look at the very first one…That should answer all your questions as to suppressing free speech

Yes government funded radio should be a beacon, a shining example of how to run a privately owned radio station. NPR is full of propaganda. However I will agree to boycott Fox if you boycott MSNBC. Neither of them are impartial.

um….actually Jon Stewart is #1….
…but you’re about 14 years too late…the path to today’s mega-media corporations was set when Bill Clinton reversed decades of oversight and signed the Telecommunications Act …. and did you know that Fox News founder and owner Rupert Murdoch was a friend and big contributor to the Clintons?

NPR would be our model? Seriously? The GOVERNMENT sponsored NPR? You really want state run news? Oh yeah, that’s smart. You’ve really thought this one through. Do you think that maybe. . just maybe. . if the media was controlled by the government that maybe the government might control what is actually on that media? Is it possible? Or is government so pure that it would never tell us a lie through a State controlled media?
Maybe we should ask Chavez how to work this thing. . .or Stalin. .. or . . .well. . I think you know where I’m going with this. . .

Have at it, boycott all you’d like. Since I’ve never watched FOX news I don’t especially care. However, your blatant attempt at legislating censorship is sickening. You really need to get out of the basement more often.

“They mix news with facts……” No wonder you hate them. LOL!

Not me.
“NPR would serve as the model for such a law,” and “…because its goal is integrity.” These two statements render your question meaningless.

Sorry, although I do think people like Limbaugh and Beck only antagonize and lie to people, we still have a little thing called the First Amendment. I already boycott them now.

Boycott Fox all you want. Fox has the best ratings of any news channel on TV.
As for your censureship of a viewpoint you disagree with you will have better luck with that pursuit by moving to North Korea.

There is already a boycott. It is against ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, and MSNBC. Check their ratings. The public has already made it’s choice. Gotta love it!

When will liberals understand that Hannity and O’Reilly are commentators not news anchors.
And in the nature of your impartiality, I am sure that you would also boycott the blatantly liberal media sites?

I may hate the embarassingly hyperbolic and often false attacks of Fox News, but I’m also a free speech absolutist. Schneck vs. USA was already a bad enough violation of the American people’s civil rights, we don’t need one that limits freedom of speech AND the press.

Another Fascist Liberal. Stop using the word “Liberal” because you are not. The Progressives need Fascism or their plan will not succeed. You act like taking away free speech and economic freedom (yes, someone is losing their freedom) is Liberal. It’s not.

There is a little thing called “freedom of the press” and “freedom of speech”.
The govt has no place in legislating what we hear, see or learn in the press.
Our govt has a history of lying, being inaccurate, and spinning. Who would want
them censoring our information? That was one of our founders greatest fears.
Govt censorship.
There has been inaccurate and bias in NPR. There is no pneutrality and there is no
true nuetrality when it comes to human beings.

I already boycott the station I won’t watch that garbage if they paid me

We need more stations like fox to get the news .Seems many others are just liberal infomercials.Having the government censer is not what this country is about.

I am sure that even after you see this video, you’ll have another excuse that Fox or someone else
made it up, hey see for yourself, this is before he was a Senator.

How low our country has sunk that our college students support curtailing freedom of speech. I am ashamed that my tax dollars support an educational system that leads to this kind of thinking.

of course i would support boycotting faux news… it is not news it is little more than yellow journalism…

1. I am not in favor of boycotts or censorship.
2. Slander and libel are already illegal. If a person in the media is guilty of slander (spoken lies) or libel (printed lies), then I am absolutely in favor of that person or outlet being fined and/or sued, and held responsible for what they did wrong.
3. Fox, like CNN & MSNBC, has a combination of news and commentary programs. Most people have no problem telling the difference between news (based on facts) and commentary (based on opinions).
4. The government’s goal is integrity? Really? Then why is there so much corruption in the government? Elected officials taking kickbacks? Bribes? Breaking the law?

And so it begins…
A group of LIBERALS – label FOX NEWS as FOX ENTERTAINMENT… then call their reporting LIES.
Meanwhile – their PRESIDENT stares into the CAMERA and tells us:
- Really Obama Care Is gonna save you money
- Really if you LIKE your DOCTOR – you won’t have a problem staying with him/her
- There will be NO lobbyist in my administration
- NO MORE EAR MARKS – I won’t SIGN it – if it has a SINGLE EARMARK (Stimulus 1 had almost 8000)
- Speaking of STIMULUS – if we spend the almost 800 Billion (with a B) unemployment won’t go over 8%
- We have 57 States
- The Financial Reform Bill – keeps us from being on the HOOK for BAILOUTS.
Yet FOX – who reports the NEWS and LETS YOU DECIDE… is a LIAR.
Good spin… guy!
The TRUTH is hard to Defend against that’s why for the last 109 Months – FOX has been #1 in NEWS COVERAGE.
Get use to it… they have saved AMERICA from LIBERAL TYRANNY since they went on the air.
You should be THANKING THEM…. NOT trying to SHUT THEM DOWN… or getting them to change their category.

Hell, let’s just go ahead an execute everybody who doesn’t support racism and the destruction of America like you do. That’s what you want, why hold back?

Wow, so you don’t agree with them politically, so now you want laws passed to make them go away .
Thats so facist of you !!!!!!!

You can boycott broccoli and carrots, too for all anybody cares. But legislating Entertainment/television or fines for inaccurate stories or lies, that’s just too involved.
